Business Continuity for Effective Logistics
![]() |
Singapore, 17 September 2010 - In Business Continuity Management (BCM) practice, one can identify a variety of threats in the Risk analysis and review phase ranging from natural disasters to terrorist attacks, but little does the complexity of the supply chain are being rated as the greatest threat. For organizations which their very core business deals with supply chain management and time sensitivity, this is their greatest threat. |
At times of disaster, the logistics industry will be badly hit when their operation is forced to be carried out manually while inaccessibility to infrastructure is a disaster itself. In the recent Humawealth Genesis Awareness program, GCEL advisory committee guest speaker, Dr Goh Moh Heng told attendees that although disaster is beyond our control, we can prepare and respond in much smarter ways to minimize the impact. As such, business continuity and disaster recovery plan would address that.
Easier said than done, the real challenge for the industry lies in the capability of the organization to operate in an alternate mode to support its critical business functions involving the complex and time sensitive distribution chain while the entire business process recovers.
Dr Goh, who is also president of BCM Institute invites interested parties to have a chat with him to take a closer look at this case. Alternatively, log on to BCM Institute website at http://www.bcm-institute.org for news and update.
