Time for Singapore to Develop More Resilient-abled Workforce

SINGAPORE, 6 AUGUST 2010 – The strong economic recovery in Singapore has called organizations to take a step further in building up one of its most critical and vital assets - human capital.  As such, the Business Continuity Management (BCM) Institute has launched launched the C3 Competency Building Campaign, which is aimed at developing the Singapore workforce's capacity, building capability and ultimately, the competency to safeguard not only every organization's profitability, but its preparedness and resiliency to disasters as well.

The campaign offers an array of Business Continuity, IT Disaster Recovery and Crisis Management course modules, accessible to all, through a substantial rate reduction and attractive subsidy in line with the Singapore Government's need for organizational compliancy for business continuity and nevertheless leveraging on a more ICT-capabled workforce. The 3-month long campaign consists of BCM international standards (such as British Standard BS25999 and Singapore Standard SS540) compliant courses of different levels, from foundation to management and to auditing. These courses will provide Small Medium Enteprises and  Large Medium Corporations in both the private and public sectors to have a human resource team capable of developing on a BC plan implementation roadmap.

Moreover, for individuals seeking to enhance their career, the advance module training leads to a global,  professional certificate and qualification subject to examination and professional panel assessment. Funding support provided for Singaporeans/PRs and ACRA registered private organisations/companies adds as a bonus for skills upgrading. Organisations and individuals can also look forward to findings from the C3 survey that will be released to the media by end of the last quarter of 2010.

Communicate, share and network at the world’s largest BC-DR global forum.

Singapore, 2 July 2010 – 2900 members, 280 envelope-pushing discussions, 40 downloadable files and the numbers keep growing.  Hosted by BCM Institute, the largest business continuity (BC) disaster recovery (DR) forum online is gathering a flock of knowledge-hungry professionals from over 60 countries since its official launch in 2009.

Unlike other forums, this forum is open to even non-BCM certified individuals, professionals and boasts 5 Chapters in Kuwait, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand and India. Members include bigwigs and amateurs creating a series of lively discussions threads such as exploring the difference between exercise, testing and drilling; various tabletop exercises as well as announcements on vacant positions available.

Forum members include students who have been BCM certified, instructors and interested individuals who have eagerly volunteered their time in the forum’s Special Interest Group as well. Ms Lim, a member of the BCM Institute Forum for the past 2 years added that it also serves as a platform for her to reconnect with professionals from her class. Aside from viewing upcoming events from BCM Institute, members can also keep an eye out for upcoming courses closer to home.

“Our forum along with BCMPedia and our Meet-the-Experts (MTE) sessions, serves in my opinion, the Institute’s greater purpose of our social responsibility to the BC-DR fraternity. We are a knowledge-sharing partner and we are glad to see a   hive of activity on our forum and MTEs”, added Dr Goh.
