Master Classes Agenda

A series of three master classes running on the second and third day of the event will allow delegates to understand complex areas of business continuity, disaster recovery, crisis management and the latest topic auditing business continuity management. These sessions will lead you to BCM Institute certification qualifying examination, giving you the opportunity to be certified in the areas of specific interest. Some of the master classes areas that will be covered are as follow

Master Class A

Time: 9am to 5pm (15 to 16 July 2010 - Conducted in English)
Crisis Management with Simulation Exercise
 

 

This is 2-Day course focus on the understanding of crisis management and participants will be expected to be involved in a simulation exercise on the following day.

BCM-2061: Crisis Management is the first 1-Day course for professional who are responsible for crisis management. Participants will be expected to learn:

  • Concepts on crisis management and communications
  • Planning methodology to implement crisis management project
  • Develop structure for crisis management team
  • Be aware of the content of a crisis management plan
  • Understand the design, command and control within the command centre

Course Benefit

Participant will have a good knowledge on the implementation of crisis management, team structure, setting up of the command centre and an overview on how a crisis can be managed.

BCM-2050: Crisis Simulation is a one day course for participants to assist their organizations and agencies to move into a mature stage of BCM by looking into disaster scenario planning. Some will use this to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of their BC plans and BCM programme. Others may use this as a tool to help develop specific BC and emergency response plans. This practical course will take participants through the disaster life cycle with the use of a case study. The scenario for these exercises can be tailored from a typical threat of bombing or fire incidents to a H1N1 Influenza A Pandemic outbreak. Participants will emerge with a list of practical tips to conduct their own simulation exercises; including:

  • Understanding of a “real life” worst-case key disaster scenario
  • Track incident events and prioritize decisions and activities
  • Manage crisis communications for command and control
  • Improving coordination between the crisis management, emergency response, support and recovery teams
  • Progress reporting to the crisis management team
  • Conducting the debrief

Course Benefits

Participants will walkthrough the exercise; learning how to conduct the disaster simulation, and assess crisis communications and management during the “disaster”.
