Day 2 and 3: Masterclass Agenda

A series of four two-day masterclasses running on the second and third day of the event will allow delegates to understand complex areas of business continuity, disaster recovery, crisis management and the latest topic auditing business continuity management. These sessions will lead you to BCM Institute certification qualifying examination in the afternoon of the third day, giving you the opportunity to be certified in the areas of specific interest. Some of the masterclasses areas that will be covered are as follows:

Master Class 1. Time: 9am to 5pm
BCM-300: Implementing Business Continuity Management, BCM

 

This two-day business continuity course with 2 1/2 hour 100-Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) based examination will lead the participants to acquire BC knowledge and also the Business Continuity Certified Specialist certification.

Participants will acquire the essential skills and knowledge of business impact analysis, risk analysis, testing and exercising, and keeping Business Continuity (BC) plans current. BCM-300 will also introduce the essential steps of developing business continuity and disaster recovery strategies, design and implementation of BC plans, preparing and conducting awareness and training programmes.

BCM-300 will provide the participants with the pertinent skills and knowledge, empowering them to:

  • Identify possible threats that may disrupt critical business functions in the organisation
  • Identify and analyse business requirements to recover critical business function
  • Develop effective functional response and recovery plans
  • Strengthen organisational resiliency to counter major incidents and disasters

Master Class 2. Time: 9am to 5pm
DRP-300: Implementing IT Disaster Recovery Planning, DRP

 

For BC or IT professionals who are keen in learning about the entire IT DR planning process and the implementation within your organization, the DRP-300 course will be right course to attend for you. The successful completion of the certification examination will lead you to the Disaster Recovery Certified Specialist or DRCS.

DRP-300 is an intermediate 2-day course with an additional half-day 100-Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) based examination, following the successful completion of the course. This course is designed and developed for IT Disaster Recovery (DR) Managers and Planners, IT Professionals dealing with specific area within the DR planning process, any IT professional embarking on their IT Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) career. Participants will be introduced to the key concepts of developing business continuity and disaster recovery strategies, design and implementation of DR plans, preparing and conducting awareness and training programmes. This course is a pre-requisite course for the DRP-400 course.

Participants will be imparted with crucial DR skills and knowledge; empowering them to support the organisation and DRP team to:

  • Assess risk to IT and technology related components
  • Conduct the business impact analysis to identify critical IT and technology resources to support key users
  • Develop and evaluate effectiveness of related recovery procedures

Master Class 3. Time: 9am to 5pm
BCM-830: Auditing BCM

 

The auditing of BC plan and BCM program for any organizations is becoming a complex process for any auditors and reviewers. This course will guide the participants on the specifics for auditing their BC plans and program. The course assumes that the participants have some basic auditing or review skill.

Organisations need to keep to their Business Continuity Management (BCM) programmes and BC plans current and effective. This requires organisations to exercise and test the BC plans; then, validate the results against the findings from the risk analysis, Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and recovery strategy stages; as well as consistency with the BCM scope, definitions and assumptions. These constitute the criteria and key performance indices to ascertain the effectiveness of the BC plan, procedures and processes. Based on the findings, organisations need to develop a set of action tasks and implement them as part of the activities to update the BC plans and the BCM programme.The successful completion of the course will lead you to the Member of BCM Institute, MBCMI.

Participants can expect to learn on how to:

  • Understanding the BCM scope, definition and objectives
  • Developing and evaluating criteria and performance indices for the BCP review
  • Observing and documenting exercise and tests results

BCM-2060: Crisis Management

 

This course is ideal for the seasoned business continuity professional who would like to widen their knowledge beyond business continuity and as well as anyone who like to learn about managing crisises within an organisation. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be awarded the Member of BCM Institute, MBCMI.

With the myriad of disasters, crisis and terorrist attacks hitting the world almost on a regular basis, crisis management is now no longer the sole responsibility for business continuity professionals only, anyone in the organisation should know how to react in these crucial moments.
