Benefits

BCCM stands for Member of the Business Continuity Management Institute. As the term ?knowledge enhancement? denotes, the BCCM membership is meant to recognise the commitment that professionals have displayed in terms of time and money, towards enhancing their knowledge of Business Continuity Management. This membership will offer complimentary access to certain organisational resources and educational aids put together from time to time by BCMI for its community of participants, which numbers approx. 2000 BCM professionals globally.

The objective of this membership is to enable committed professionals to continue to raise the bar in terms of their knowledge, understanding and application of business continuity in the functions that they perform, and also to continue to spread visibility about Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery within their fellow professionals that they interact with an ongoing basis.

Validity

For administrative and logistic reasons, the BCCM will automatically expire at the end of the calendar year in which it has been granted. In order to automatically renew the BCCM, professionals must undertake at least another 3 days of knowledge enhancement in the next calendar year. For the purposes of renewal of the membership, participation in BCMI-organised conferences and surveys will also be deemed to qualify as ?knowledge enhancement?. This is because participation in a survey is itself a selfless activity that enables the community to benchmark maturity levels and practices, and helps to create visibility and enhance understanding of the profession within the entire community.

Renewal

Professionals looking to renew their certification will need to keep track of their achievements on the membership renewal log which will be made available on the BCMI web site. This log would need to be submitted to BCMI at least 30 days before expiry of the membership. However, this program would truly be successful if professionals feel motivated by the BCCM and successfully upgrade their competencies to meet the certification criteria of any of the reputed global bodies such as DRI International, the BCI or of BCMI Itself.
